Coventry couple hit the jackpot

AFTER defying odds of over 4,000,000/1, a Coventry couple are in for a taste of the high life as they prepare to jet off to Las Vegas thanks to a lucky National Lottery Scratchcard.

Dad-of-two Ian Dunn, 28, and his partner Karen McDougall are splashing the cash on their dream holiday after scooping the top prize on the Millionaire 777 Scratchcard.

Ian, a production worker at Jaguar Land Rover, had finished work at 9pm and popped into his local corner shop to pick up a few bits of shopping and decided to get a scratchcard when at the till.

Following hours of staring at the card in shear disbelief, Ian handed the card to Karen and sat up all night waiting until he could call The National Lottery.

The couple immediately used their good fortune to book a trip of a lifetime to Vegas – and a fountain-view room at the glitzy five-star Bellagio Hotel.

The Coventry City Fan said: “I still can’t really digest what has happened, our heads are still spinning, but the fact we are able to take a holiday Karen and I have only ever dreamed about is unbelievable.

“I haven’t ever been outside Europe and for the last few years our holidays have been to Skegness and Great Yarmouth, so to be able to book a trip like this really is a dream come true.

“We haven’t decided exactly how we plan to spend the money yet, however treats for the family will definitely on the cards starting with a trip to Disney World in Florida for the kids.”

Ian is now hoping to take a six month work sabbatical before working out what to do with his winnings.

Since its introduction, the National Lottery has funded 1695 individual Coventry projects totalling £126m in grants to helps arts, sports, heritage, health, education, environment and charity sectors.
