A COVENTRY couple have been recognised for their dedication to caring and have been presented with a Good Citizen award by the Lord Mayor.
Neil and Carol Wilkinson – who have cared for 100 children over a four decade period – have offered short-term, emergency and respite care to children of all ages.
One of the children the couple cared for had a life limiting illness – and Carol stepped in with her nursing skills to help.
The pair have represented views of other foster carers and worked closely with health and social care professionals to make sure their knowledge has been represented in any service developments.
Part of the reference giving the reasons why Neil and Carol have been awarded the Good Citizen Award, states: “Carol and Neil nurture and care for young people who would otherwise have a very poor start in life.
“They are an inspiration to us all and without doubt deserve the accolade of ‘Good Citizens’.”
