FOLLOWING a local appeal, a group of brides and grooms returned to the scene of their special day to mark the 20th anniversary of a Coventry hotel.
Around 25 couples who all tied the knot at Coombe Abbey Hotel in the past two decades took a trip down memory lane, returning to the venue for the hotel’s ’20 Years of Wedding Day Wonder’ exhibition.
As well as looking round the new photo exhibition, the lovebirds enjoyed a drinks reception with canapes along with the opportunity to recreate their first dances.
And, almost 20 years to the day since they said their vows, Alistair and Jackie Pinnock were among the couples who returned to Coombe Abbey.
Speaking about the day, Jackie Pinnock said: “We were one of the few couples to get married in the original chapel of the abbey.
“You were only allowed 23 people so we had immediate family and close friends to the ceremony and our other guests arrived later for the wedding breakfast.
“We had our honeymoon night at Coombe and then went to Dublin for a few days.
“The wedding exhibition and appeal for couples to get in touch to celebrate Coombe Abbey’s 20 year anniversary has brought back so many happy memories.”
The exhibition comes after staff at The Coombe Abbey Hotel put out a clarion call earlier in the year to couples who got married at the hotel in the last 20 years to come forward with their photos and stories – with organisers turning the ‘montage of marital memories’ into the and online and physical photo gallery.
Ron Terry, General Manager at Coombe Abbey Hotel, said: “It was fantastic to see all the couples again hearing all their stories and memories at the exhibition and how much they enjoyed their special day.
“The appeal and the wedding exhibition and have been a fantastic success in helping us celebrate the 20 year anniversary of the hotel and a wonderful reminder of the affection people have for Coombe Abbey and its ability to create special memories for those who come here.”
