COVENTRY Cyrenians is appealing to residents to help them spread some festive joy around the city with a Christmas Day meal at the Methodist Central Hall.

The Cyrenians Christmas Day meal has been a fixture in Coventry for over 30 years, with those who are homeless, vulnerable or lonely able to sit down and enjoy the holidays in the company of others.

All are welcome to sit at the dinner table, with organisers expecting this year’s meal to be busier than ever with the cost-of-living crisis hitting people from all walks of life.

Guests will be able to enjoy a two-course hot meal, drinks and entertainment from volunteer performers including singers, musicians and poets.

And as a bonus, this year’s event will also feature some festive bingo.

The Cyrenians will also be using the day as a chance to hand out essential items such as warm socks, hats and gloves, and toiletries.

Organisers need donations to make the Christmas lunch bigger and better than ever and have set a £12,000 fund-raising target on their JustGiving page.

A Coventry Cyrenians spokesperson said it was a chance for them to ‘provide those of Coventry who are less fortunate what might be their only gift, warm meal or meaningful conversation this Christmas’.

Visit to donate to the meal.
