Coventry duo who trafficked and sexually assaulted two teenage girls jailed BUT police hunt third man

A PAIR of Coventry men have been jailed for human trafficking, Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) and sexual offences against two teenage girls – while police search for a third man.

Zoaeir Tamari, aged 20, and 27-year-old Lala Gul Utkhel have been jailed for 14 years for human trafficking and facilitating Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) as well as sexual assault on two teenage girls, aged 13 and 14.

Coventry Crown Court heard how the two young girls were on their way to a friend’s house in Coventry city centre in the early hours of August 26 last year.

The two defendants along with two other friends pulled alongside them in a blue Jaguar XJ8 paying the girls compliments and offering them a lift to their destination.

The girls accepted the lift and the driver made his way to a garage where they bought alcohol and cigarettes which they plied the pair with as they drove around Coventry.

Eventually they arrived at a pub, after dropping one of the men off, and the girls were escorted to Utkhel’s flat above the premises.

They were given more alcohol and Tamari took advantage of both girl’s vulnerability – sexually assaulting them both.

The girls were later driven back to the city centre where they raised the alarm.

Zoaeir Tamari, from Queen Mary’s Road, Coventry was sentenced to a total of nine-and-a-half years for human trafficking for the purpose of CSE and for sexual assault.

Lala Gul Utkhel, of Lockhurst Lane, Coventry was sentenced to four-and-a-half years for human trafficking for the purpose of CSE.

Detective Chief Inspector Ian Green, from the force’s Public Protection Unit, said: “These young girls found themselves in a situation they felt unable to control or get out of and what happened to them could have a devastating impact on them for some time to come.

“Fortunately the girls were brave enough to report what had happened to them immediately.

“We are committed to bringing sexual offenders to justice to protect other young girls from harm.

The sentencing of Tamari and Utkhel comes within a week of five other men in Coventry receiving lengthy jail terms for similar offences, brought about by the work of the Horizon Team − a special multi-agency team set up to discover, disrupt and tackle Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) in Coventry.

Police are now looking for the driver of the car in connection with the incident.

Walikhan Sultan-Khal, known as Sultan. s

Walikhan Sultan-Khal, known as Sultan, (aged 25) was last known to be living in the Foleshill area of Coventry.

Det Chf Insp Green added: “I would urge anyone who knows the whereabouts of Sultan-Khal to get in touch with us as soon as possible to help us progress our investigation.”

Information can be given to police on 101 or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
