Coventry fly-tipper gets a £200 fine

Coventry Editorial 26th May, 2022   0

A COVENTRY resident has been fined £200 after admitting to dumping two mattresses on Hartlepool Road in April.

Video footage was used to identify the un-named fly-tipper who has apologised and accepted the penalty.

The culprit was advised on how to dispose of waste correctly during an interview.

Coun Abdul Salam Khan, Coventry City Council’s cabinet member for policing and equalities, said the action showed the authority would not ‘stand by and allow people to just dump unwanted items in the street and around the city’.

“We take the issue of fly-tipping very seriously and work hard to find and prosecute offenders.

“Sites of concern are identified that are then followed up on – but it is vital local people help us gather evidence against the culprits.”
