Coventry foodbanks dancing fairies the star of new fund-raising social media campaign

Coventry Editorial 3rd Dec, 2022   0

COVENTRY Foodbank has created a magical all dancing new four-part social media video as part of its fund-raising campaign to tackle the rising food crisis and help meet increasing demand.

Told in four chapters between December 1 and December 7, the light-hearted shorts see a young girl at Tesco in Clifford Bridge Road asking her mother if she can donate to the foodbank, prompting the magical ‘foodbank fairies’ to appear.

Then on December 9, you’ll be able to watch a full run-through of the entire story.

The new videos have been filmed in collaboration with Leamington and Warwick Academy of Dance, with the hope being to raise awareness and cash for the foodbank.

The project uses dance to narrate the food’s journey from supermarket shelves to the central warehouse, where it’s sorted, packed and sent to the homes of those who need it most.

Coventry foodbank has 14 centres throughout the city, helping thousands of people across Coventry.

Last year’s recorded song, The 12 Days of Christmas, was a huge hit on social media, raising over £10,000 to support Coventry Foodbank.

Rich Smith, Head of Communications, said: “Last year we had huge success with our first social media campaign song The 12 Days of Christmas and the question was how were we going to top that this year?

“The rationale behind it is that we want to tell the story in short segments to keep people’s attention on social media and it builds momentum over time.”

“There are more and more people living in Coventry who are facing a food crisis and every week Coventry Foodbank engages with people who are struggling to put food on the table and are completely relying on food and financial donations.

“It provides a lifeline to thousands of people across the city.”
