A COVENTRY gang suspect – one of the region’s ‘most wanted’ men – has been arrested this morning after a police pursuit.
Police have been hunting Kai Flynn over a shooting in Cross Road, Coventry, when a man suffered a hand injury on May 2 this year.
He is also wanted for questioning about an allegation of blackmail on May 25 where it’s understood a man’s family was threatened with violence.
Armed police surrounded an address in The Scotchill, Radford, Coventry, at around 1.30am today and detained the 33-year-old.
Coventry Police inspector Hasson Shigdar said: “Police and community intelligence links Flynn to gang activity in the city and the supply of drugs and firearms.
“We have carried out numerous arrest attempts to bring him into custody and the arrest we’ve made this morning is very significant.
“Flynn is also wanted by colleagues in Warwickshire on suspicion of breaching a suspended prison sentence; we will be working with them and doing all we can to remand the suspect into prison.”
The arrest followed a suspected sighting of Flynn – from Tile Hill – in the Bell Green area.
It resulted in a police pursuit of a vehicle which was spotted being driven dangerously in Lydgate Road, Radford.
The pursuit was abandoned on safety grounds as the Mini sped at 60mph in 30mph-zones, jumped red lights and performed hazardous overtakes.
The vehicle was later found abandoned in Addison Road and a man was arrested by West Midlands Police’s firearms unit in nearby The Scotchill.
