A COVENTRY girl has been one of three winners of the ‘Highly Commended’ accolades at this year’s West Midlands Young Active Citizens Awards.
Hannah Richards, who is 13, was given the title at the awards where there was a large number of very impressive entries.
The young active citizen awards were launched by the West Midlands Lieutenancy in 2020 and are open to young people who show dedication and passion to help others.
This year’s winners have shown great effort with fundraising, mentoring, volunteering, and organising special events.
The winners have each received a signed certificate from the lord lieutenant of the West Midlands, Sir John Crabtree OBE, and a trip to the House of Lords for afternoon tea.
Sir Crabtree said: “We know that every day young people are doing some fantastic things to help others and our awards celebrate this.
“It is hugely heart-warming to hear their stories, and time and time again I am impressed with their ingenuity and the lengths they go to to make a positive contribution to help others.
“They are an example to us all.”
