Coventry Glitz and Glamour ball to raise cash for new therapy centre

COVENTRY’S Glitz and Glamour Ball will be attempting to raise thousands of pounds to support the creation of a new therapy centre for abused children in the city.

The annual ball, which is run by Coventry and Warwickshire Children’s Charity will take place at the CBS Arena on Friday, September 22.

All funds raised at this year’s event will support a new therapy centre for abused Coventry children.

The charity is in the process of setting up the therapy centre.

Now in its 18th year, the event has raised more than £1.1 million, which is around a third of the total amount the charity has raised since 1996.

The ball will feature entertainment, live music and a range of fundraising ideas including a silent auction.

There will also be a diamond challenge, where guests can buy boxes with some containing a message saying they have won a piece of jewellery.

An auction will feature signed memorabilia and tickets to sports and entertainment events.

And there will be a champagne reception, a three-course meal and dancing.

Hamilton Bland, the trustee for the Coventry and Warwickshire Children’s Charity and organiser of the Glitz and Glamour Ball, said: “Businesses in Coventry and Warwickshire have been supporting this event for nearly two decades and it continues to be one of the biggest and best annual fundraising events that is held in the region.

“The ball last year was a great success and demonstrated the overwhelming empathy and support of the local community for our charity and the work that we do in supporting children who have suffered abuse.”
