Coventry Haven Women's Aid given £650 cash boost

Coventry Editorial 8th Jan, 2023   0

COVENTRY Haven Women’s Aid is one of five charities to have received £650 as part of a fund-raising effort from Alsters Kelley Solicitors.

The law firm, which has offices in Coventry and Nuneaton, has raised more than £3,200 for five charities in Coventry and Warwickshire alongside supporting Ukrainian war victims by donating toiletries, blankets, torches, batteries and medical products.

Coventry Haven Women’s Aid offers services to empower women who have suffered from domestic violence and abuse.

Money-raising events included a bingo competition at Cubbington Sports and Social Club in July, which raised more than £2,000, alongside Dress Down Fridays, a Christmas Jumper Day and staff members’ sponsored hike around the Malvern Hills.

Other charities to receive the funding include Warwick-based Safeline, Helping Hands Community Project in Leamington, The Mary Ann Evans Hospice in Nuneaton and Southam Fosse Foodbank.

And Alsters Kelley will be supporting the Coventry-based Luca Foundation to help them continue to provide resources and facilities for families which have suffered the loss of a baby.

Alsters Kelley’s business development director Julie McGarrigle said: “It has been an amazing effort this year with our charity fund-raising and we are very grateful to all our staff who continue to support our charity initiatives.”
