Coventry history group and Photo Archive Miners to launch exhibition

Coventry Editorial 10th Aug, 2019 Updated: 10th Aug, 2019   0

WILLENHALL History Group and a photography organisation are launching a new exhibition at the Willen’all2gether Community Fun Day.

The indoor and outdoor exhibition on Saturday, August 17, Imagine Willenhall, is curated by the History Group and showcases photos taken by Coventry City Architects exactly 50 years ago.

The photos were found in Coventry archives by Photo Archive Miners not-for-profit company, and will be shown in the same style as Photo Miners’ popular Tale of Two Streets exhibition shown earlier in the year.

The Community Fun Day takes place from 11am till 3pm at the Hagard Community Space on Remembrance Road, and is sponsored by Groundwork West Midlands, Active Citizens and Willenhall Community Forum.

Willenhall History Group meets every Tuesday in The Hagard Centre (10am to 12pm) and is keen to welcome new people to the group.

The group is also showing some of its photo archive on the day.

Photo Archive Miners’ work in Willenhall has been supported by The City of Culture Trust and The Heart of England Community Foundation through The Road to 2021 Fund.

Photo Archive Miners has also been engaging with young people through the YMCA Youth Group, and will be giving people the chance to make photos with a pinhole camera at the Fun Day.

Photo Archive Miners is looking to help the people of Willenhall tell their own stories and will be developing ideas for future projects with local people.
