EMMAUS Coventry and Warwickshire is asking people to send a text instead of cards to loved ones with its ‘No Christmas Cards’ appeal and is hoping to raise £1,000 to help those in need.
The homelessness charity is appealing for people to donate the cash they would otherwise spend on Christmas cards and postage towards its cause over the festive season.
A first class stamp sets people back 95p each, with a second class stamp costing 68p, meaning sending 30 Christmas cards using second class stamps would cost someone £20.40.
Donating £10 would allow Emmaus to give someone health and wellbeing support for a month, while £20 will pay for someone’s food for five days.
