UNIVERSITY Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust were granted the freedom of the city last Thursday as a thank you for their response to the pandemic.
The Council awarded the honour at an extraordinary general meeting at Coventry Cathedral.
Many NHS staff members took part in a short parade from the Council House along with several councillors and Lord Mayor Coun Kevin Maton.
The staff were presented with an illuminated minute and plaque to mark the event and a short video was played showing the work UHCW carried out during the pandemic.
Staff also had the chance to speak about the challenges of the pandemic.
Lord Mayor Coun Kevin Maton said it was an honour to celebrate UHCW.
“It means so much to all of us and I am delighted we have had such a special day to finally say ‘thank you’ and show our appreciation for the incredible care they gave throughout the pandemic – and that they continue to give today.”
