A COVENTRY landlord has been issued with a formal caution by the City Council after he harassed his tenant.
In a bid to humiliate his tenant, the landlord posted details of her rent arrears on Facebook and shared it with her friends and family.
He also shared her employment details and address but has since deleted the post.
The tenant contacted the council’s Landlord and Tenant Liason Officer, who gathered the evidence and interviewed the landlord under caution.
He confessed to the offence at the earliest opportunity.
Formal cautions may stop landlords from gaining licenses in Coventry, including the ability to manage Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO).
They can be offered to those who admit wrongdoing at an early stage and accept responsibility for their offences, but they can only be offered where there is enough evidence to realistically gain a prosecution.
The tenants also have the option of bringing a civil action.
