COVENTRY’S Central Library will be closed for a week this month to allow restorative work inside.
The work will be undertaken by the council’s property services team in order to improve and update the city centre building ready for the city’s year as City of Culture in 2021.
It will be closed from Monday March 16 – March 22, while the team puts up scaffolding inside the foyer. The library will then briefly close again between Monday April 27 and Wednesday April 29 so the scaffolding can be taken down.
As a result of this closure, any book or materials that are due to be returned during either of these closures must be returned prior to these dates. During these closures, all other council libraries will remain open.
The toilets on the ground floor of the library will remain open.
Peter Barnett, head of libraries at Coventry City Council, said: ‘The Central Library will have a part to play during our year as the City of Culture in 2021 and this work is about making sure this much-loved building is in the best shape it can be. We thank you for your patience while we carry out this work.”
