Coventry Local Enterprise Partnership to cease functions next year

Coventry Editorial 6th Oct, 2022   0

COVENTRY and Warwickshire Local enterprise partnership board have agreed the group will cease its functions next March following a meeting last Thursday.

Earlier in the year, the government announced English LEPs will integrate into local democratic institutions.

The Coventry and Warwickshire Growth Hub will be established as a community interest company with a new board.

The new Growth Hub will also integrate Coventry & Warwickshire Champions and Coventry & Warwickshire Place Board and will initially be funded by legacy cash from the LEP and local authorities.

The LEP has helped to secure £191million of investment into the area since 2011, which has been match-funded by £407.4 million for a wide range of projects.

These projects have created 17,500 jobs and support for 6,200 learners, with the LEP’s other contributions including supporting the Coventry Very Light Rail.

Coventry and Warwickshire LEP chair Sarah Windrum said she was proud of the group’s achievements.

“CWLEP leaves a lasting legacy of which we can all be proud.

“CWLEP is, and always has been, one of the top performing LEPs in England, and Coventry & Warwickshire continues to outperform many other areas in the UK as an attractive location for new investment.”
