Coventry man, 21, arrested over attempted schoolgirl abduction

A 21-year-old Coventry man has been arrested on suspicion of attempting to abduct a schoolgirl.

The alleged incident happened at 5pm last night on Momus Boulevard, Stoke, Coventry and the suspect was arrested for attempted child abduction soon after.

Police patrols have been increased and local schools have been made aware of the threat.

The suspect remains  in police custody.




A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “A 21-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of attempted child abduction last night and remains in police custody this morning.

“The incident happened on Momus Boulevard, Stoke at around 5pm.


“The offender asked the girl to get into his car twice, before she ran off and alerted her parents.

“Local schools are aware of the incident and police patrols in the area have been increased.

“Officers continue to investigate what happened and are in the process of conducting house to house enquiries and gathering CCTV footage from the local area.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact the police on 101 quoting 20CV/96390Z/18.”
