A COVENTRY man who murdered his friend has been jailed for life and will spend a minimum of 20 years behind bars.
Unemployed Edwin Pyott, 43, of Langlodge Road, Holbrooks, stabbed Danny McDermott to death at his home in February.
Following the attack Pyott confided to his family that he had killed someone.
His mother contacted the police with her grave concerns and when officers gained entry to Danny’s flat they found the father-of-two had been stabbed in the neck several times.
A Coventry police spokesperson said: “I don’t think we will ever truly get to the bottom of why Pyott killed his friend, but we believe they rowed over money.
“I am satisfied that Pyott has pleaded guilty to Danny’s murder and has saved his family from the trauma of a lengthy trial.”
Danny’s family paid tribute to him, they said: “Danny was a hardworking, loving family man with a big heart and a great sense of humour.
“He was a much loved dad, son, brother and uncle and a loyal friend. He will be hugely missed by all that knew and loved him.”
