A COVENTRY man killed in a fatal hit and run collision has been named and a suspect has been arrested.

Milton Forde – an 83-year-old from the Holbrooks area – was in Burnaby Road just before 11pm on Saturday night (May 12) when he was struck by a car which then drove away.

People living nearby who heard the collision found him lying injured in the road and called for paramedics but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said today that on Monday, a 32-year-old man, also from Coventry, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and a vehicle seized for forensic examination.

The suspect has been released pending further investigation.

A statement released on behalf of Mr Forde’s family simply stated that he would be “deeply missed by all his friends and family”.

West Midlands Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit is still appealing for anyone with information, or who saw the collision, who has not yet spoken to police to get in touch.
