A MAN was seriously assaulted with a weapon in Coventry on Sunday evening.

It happened when the attacker knocked the door of a property in Queen Mary’s Road round 8.15pm.

The 20-year-old victim sustained serious slash wounds to his face and neck.

He needed hospital treatment and is expected to be discharged today.

The attacker was Asian, wearing a face covering and was around 5ft 7ins tall and of slim build.

It’s thought he ran off along Queen Mary’s Road and into Pennington Way.

Det Sgt Stew Lewis, from West Midland Police CID, said: “This was a brutal attack on a young man leaving him with serious injuries.”

He appealed for witnesses to the incident or anyone who saw a man matching the attacker’s description afterwards to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
