Coventry man organises charity rave to fund final holiday for terminally ill wife

A COVENTRY man looking to fund one last holiday for his terminally ill wife has organised a rave to raise much-needed funds for the trip.

Just under three months ago, Jamie Payne was celebrating with his wife Joanne after she had finished her treatment for breast cancer, which she had been battling since last March.

However, after a week of severe lethargy, Joanne displayed signs of a stroke and was taken straight to the hospital where she had a CT scan.

The couple then received the devastating news the cancer had returned and Joanne had three tumours on her brain.

She has also been told the cancer is incurable and the prognosis is a year, with it expected she will only be able to live normally for a short time before it takes effect and stops her mobility and coordination.

Joanne has just started whole-head radiotherapy to help delay the impacts of the tumours.

To ensure he and his family can make some final precious memories with Joanne, Jamie has set up a JustGiving page to raise £3,000 to take her on a last holiday with their three daughters, their partners and two grandchildren.

So far, over £2,300 has been raised, and the couple were able to spend a few days of quality time together in Cornwall earlier this month having been given the use of a caravan by a friend of their eldest daughter.

Jamie, originally from Nuneaton, decided to organise a rave to help boost the total.

It will take place on Saturday, February 3 between 7pm and 2am at Ivy House.

The ‘Rave for Jo’ will include acts such as Ratty, Fallout, PG Trips, Space Ear and Wazza and Nige.

Tickets will cost £10 each.
