Coventry named among the 'top five loneliest cities in the UK'

COVENTRY has been named in the top five ‘loneliest cities’ in the UK.

Research by Quotezone.co.uk shows Coventry is the third highest when it comes to people living alone.

The statistics show 21 per cent of citizens reside on their own – putting it in third place and beaten only by Sunderland (22 per cent) and London (23 per cent).

Making up the rest of the top five are Leeds and Liverpool (both 20 per cent).

Leeds is in Tier 2 and Liverpool is in Tier 3 when it comes to the Coronavirus lockdown which has led to concerns as it bans people from mixing with others outside their household.

Coventry is currently in Tier 2 but there is a risk of tougher restrictions across the West Midlands if the infection rate were to worsen further it could be placed in Tier 3.

Greg Wilson, Founder of Quotezone.co.uk, said: “When we analysed our data we realised that a number of the cities with the highest concentrations of single person households are also dealing with Tier 3 lockdowns at present, which means many members of those communities are particularly vulnerable.”
