A SUCCESSFUL pilot of a bus route between Stratford and Coventry will continue, thanks to funding from Warwickshire County Council.

The X18 service between The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) and Coventry – provided by Stagecoach Midlands – was funded by the RSC and began in September 2023. It was due to come to an end in March.

Due to the consistent use of the service and feedback from customers, the council has agreed to take over the funding for the bus which runs Thursdays through to Saturdays.

The last bus leaves at 10.30pm from the Bridge Street bus stop.

Jacqui O’Hanlon, director of creative learning and engagement at the Royal Shakespeare Company, said: “The pilot has shown there is growing demand for late night transport options for visitors, residents, theatre-goers and evening shift workers coming to and from Stratford from across the region.

“This service supports sustainable travel options for visitors, as well as supporting our goal of making theatre more accessible for everyone.”

Mark Whitelocks, managing director stagecoach Midlands, said the company was delighted to continue the service which provided links between Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick, Leamington and Coventry.
