A BEDWORTH teenager has been arrested following a police chase on an allegedly stolen moped.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested just after 3pm on Tuesday after officers from the Nuneaton and Bedworth SNT reportedly spotted the moped driving down Smarts Road and asked the driver to stop.

The driver allegedly continued down the street pursued by officers, and started weaving in and out of traffic before reportedly falling off.

The moped was identified as having been reported stolen.

The boy was then arrested on suspicion of taking a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent, failure to stop when directed by a police officer, and dangerous driving.

Sgt Ryan Price said: “Thankfully no injury was caused to the rider or anyone else, the outcome could have been very different due to the driving displayed by the rider.

“We’re pleased that we’ve recovered the vehicle, and we will continue to keep a high vigilance for motorbike and moped thefts around Nuneaton and Bedworth.”
