Book your Christmas tree collection to help Coventry charity

Coventry Editorial 3rd Nov, 2023   0

THE most wonderful time of the year might be just around the corner, but two local charities have already announced the launch of their 2024 Coventry Christmas Tree collection.

The 2024 collection will take place over the weekend of Friday to Sunday, January 12 to 14.

The annual collection is organised by Pass The Smile and The Myton Hospices, where in return for a donation, volunteers will collect and recycle your real tree.

The project was launched in 2020 and has now raised over £100,000, with cash raised going towards helping both charities.

Over 3,300 trees were collected in January 2023, with over 200 volunteers helping to raise £45,750.

The scheme began in Coventry but now collects trees from further into Warwickshire, including Nuneaton, Rugby and Stratford-Upon-Avon.

Once collected, trees are transported to Russells Garden Centre in Baginton, where they are shredded and used to restock paths in their Quarry Gardens and maze.

The Myton Hospices director of income generation Charlotte Ingram said: “We are truly grateful to everyone who supports the collections through vans, volunteers, and donations.

“Every penny raised really does make a big difference to our patients and their families, and that’s all thanks to you.”

Bookings for tree collections open on November 15.
