COVENTRY’S Job Shop has received a more than £800,000 cash boost to enable them to give vital employment and skills support to more than 300 people who need it across the city.
The money will be ploughed into providing additional support to those aged between 16 and 29 years old and not in employment education or training (NEET).
It will also be used to help people over 50 and women who are in low-paid work or are economically inactive.
Future projects will focus on reaching residents from more deprived areas of the city, with Coventrians supported by one-to-one Job Coaches.
Over the last decade, the Job Shop has supported more than 15,000 people in Coventry into sustainable employment.
The cash comes from the Commonwealth Games Legacy Enhancement Fund.
Coun Dr Kindy Sandhu, Cabinet Member for Education and Skills, said: “This is very welcome news.
“The funding will open up so many more opportunities for Coventry residents who need additional support.
“Again, the Job Shop is working in partnership to ensure these opportunities are taken up by our residents and allow them to get into education or training.”
