THE COVENTRY Citizens Party has thanked councillors for their support after one of its campaigners fell ill during Tuesday’s full council meeting.
Local campaigner and Keresley Parish Councillor Tony Middleton fell ill around 25 minutes into the council meeting while in the public gallery and required medical attention.
The meeting was adjourned as several councillors and staff rushed up to the public gallery to help Tony.
He has since been checked over and sent home.
Tony and Citizens Party members were at the council house to watch Tuesday’s meeting having held a demonstration around some of the authorities spending decisions before it started.
Coventry Citizens Party leader Cameron Baxter said: “Tony and I would like to thank councillors and staff for their assistance including Coun Rachel Lancaster who drove us to the hospital.
“We know Tony will be back on his feet to challenge local decision-making after taking some rest.”
