COVENTRY teenage American football star Jack Redhead will captain his country tomorrow (Friday) as Great Britain takes on France in a European Championship qualifier in his home city.

The 18-year-old, who was previously a Coventry College rugby student, will lead Great Britain under-19s out as defensive captain at 7pm at Butts Park Arena.

The linebacker from Eastern Green picked up the sport just two years ago and plays for local side Tamworth Phoenix.

He said: “It’s been a rollercoaster of a journey over the last 18 months, from being in my first GB training camp to now captaining my country in what will be my fourth competitive international game.

“The support from everyone around me since I started playing has been amazing, and it’s going to be an incredible feeling to step out in such an important game in my home city.

“It will be a tough game but I’m really looking forward to the challenge.”
