COVENTRY Building Society Arena will have post event road closures in place for pedestrian safety.
A closure of the A444 Jimmy Hill Way will apply for all Coventry City home first-team fixtures and concerts in the stadium.
For a short time after each event the road will be closed off, allowing a safe and quick exit for pedestrians.
The approach has been agreed by West Midlands Police, Warwickshire Police, Warwickshire County Council and National Highways, based on the experience gained from the A444 road closures previously.
Vehicles in Car Park C and Arena Shopping Park will not be held back but will only be allowed to exit Southbound towards Coventry City Centre.
Once the closure is lifted, Car Parks A and D will be released first to ensure minimal disruption and there will be full access to Arena Shopping Park during the closure.
The post-match road closures will begin from the Sky Blues’ first home league game of the season against Oxford United on August, 16 but will not be in place this Saturday for the friendly versus Werder Bremen.
A spokesperson at Coventry Building Society Arena, said: “The teams at Coventry Building Society Arena and Coventry City thank all supporters in advance for their co-operation with the new post-match traffic management, which will help keep spectators safe at Sky Blues’ games.
“These measures have been put in place because the safety of spectators leaving Coventry Building Society Arena whether that is attending football matches, concerts or other high-profile events which attract thousands and thousands of people is our priority.”
