COVENTRY City Council are encouraging people struggling with the cost-of-living to check if they are eligible for a household support grant before the deadline.

Earlier this year the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) announced an extension to the grant, the Household Support Fund (HSF) until Monday September 30.

The funding is designed to support household who are suffering financial hardship and may not qualify for other types of government support.

Households can apply for a range of support, including cost of food, fuel, energy bills and related essentials, including households who have previously been not been eligible following receipt of a cost of living payment.

Laura Waller, digital services and inclusion lead, said: “Over the course of the Household Support Fund period, and as the cost of living increasingly impacted on households, the level of demand for support has been increasing, which is why this funding is still so desperately needed in the city.

“The Council’s priority is to support our residents during these challenging times and support the effort to get essential financial assistance to households as quickly as possible and improve the lives of our Coventry people.”
