A COVENTRY man branded a ‘coward’ by police after stabbing a woman with a knife around nine times leaving her requiring surgery has been jailed for almost five years.

Baki Karim attacked a woman in a Kerseley End home in November 2022.

The 54-year-old, of Middlemarch Road, armed himself with a knife and stabbed the woman around nine times while screaming threats and obscenities.

The victim was rushed to University Hospital Coventry for surgery and Karim was promptly arrested and charged with Grievous Bodily Harm and possession of a knife.

On October 5, he was sentenced to 57 months and handed a 20-year restraining order against the victim at Warwick Crown Court.

DC Stowe of Warwickshire Police said: “Karim is a dangerous, callous individual and it is good news for the community that he is now behind bars.

“Like all bullies, he is a coward. As soon as officers arrived he began trying to extract sympathy.

“He then told a pack of lies in his interview in an attempt to avoid facing justice.”
