Coventry dad’s charity challenge for amazing twins to get 12,000 video views in a year

TWO INCREDIBLE Coventry twins using YouTube to shine a spotlight on the remarkable work city charities do have been set a task of reaching 12,000 views in 12 months to raise vital cash for the organisations- with their father footing the bill.

Twins Hattie and Alice Mogan, both 12, decided to spend their free time making a video showcasing the work city charity shops do and the great items they offer.

Their father Michael Mogan MBE told them he thought it would struggle to get noticed, and to prove how confident he was, he said for every 1,000 views they got, he would donate £100 to one of the featured charities.

Amazingly, Hattie and Alice’s video has gained 2,000 views in only a few weeks.

As a result of his daughter’s stellar work, Michael has already paid out £100 cheques to both Coventry Resource Centre for the Blind and Myton Hospice.

“They’re going to put me out of pocket if they keep on at this rate” joked Michael, who is an avid fund-raiser himself.

“We live in Earlsdon which is a lovely place, but often the high street is put down, so the girls wanted to show firstly what great work charity shops do and also what amazing items people can buy.

“In August I needed a new Coventry City shirt so we got one at a charity shop and the video idea spiralled from there.

“We are continually amazed at charities and the great thing is we all have links to the ones that will benefit from the girl’s video.”

The next £100 donation to mark 3,000 views will go to the RSPCA- the animal loving twin’s favourite charity.

Other charities set to benefit include Tiny Tim’s Children’s Centre, Earlsdon Library, Pass The Smile for Ben, the Notables band and the Friends of Coventry Cathedral.

Hattie and Alice have previously raised around £15,000 to help save Coventry United Ladies football club from liquidation and a further £3,000 to help those impacted by the war in Ukraine.

“They’re lovely young ladies and I’m very proud of them” Michael added.

“I’m not a rich man but donating to good causes, even if it means I miss a few Christmas nights out, will be well worth it.”
