Coventry high-risk patients are encouraged to have a Spring covid-19 vaccine

COVENTRY and Warwickshire high-risk patients are encouraged by the NHS to have a Spring covid-19 vaccination.

In order to offer the most vulnerable protection, people ages 75 and over and people in care-homes as well as people older than six months with a weakened immune system are being offered a spring vaccination.

Eligible people are being contacted by the NHS via texts, emails, letters and messaged on the app.

Appointments can be booked on the website or by callin 119 for free, or on the app.

There are a number of drop-in clinics across Coventry and Warwickshire where people can get a vaccine without booking.

Spring vaccinations will be available until June, 30.

Dr Angela Brady, chief medical officer at NHS Coventry and Warwickshire ICB, said: “We know that Covid poses a greater risk to older people and those with underlying health conditions.

“We also know immunity can fade over time.

“This makes it important to top up your protection – the Covid-19 vaccine is the most effective way to protect against serious illness.

“We want to make sure you and your loved ones, have every opportunity to get vaccinated this spring if you are at higher risk.”
