COVENTRY has been named the top destination in the UK for spotting the pink moon tonight (Tuesday).

As people await the upcoming Pink Moon, a new study by Bokun, shows the best locations for optimal moon-viewing experiences.

Amid a surge in astro-tourism fueled by a 10 per cent annual increase in light pollution.

With urbanisation and artificial lighting contributing to light pollution, the quest for unobstructed views has become increasingly challenging.

This year, as the Pink Moon prepares to cast its luminous glow across the night sky, Coventry stands out as the top city for moon-gazing enthusiasts.

Coventry has the highest visibility distance among cities and the second-lowest level of light pollution, promising unparalleled viewing conditions.

Daniel Hasselbach, travel expert at Bókun, said: “We have seen increased interest in the cosmos, with over 2.28million people eager to find out ‘When is the next Full Moon?’.

“This is likely attributed to the fact that it is becoming increasingly more difficult to witness these astrological wonders from home due to a rise in light pollution.

“Beyond its radiant beauty, many marvel at the full moon as the embodiment of shared experience around the world which transcends generations.

“This moon, in particular, dubbed the ‘Pink Moon’, is the last full moon of the winter.

“Its name is derived from Native Americans who would find worm trails in newly thawed ground during this time of year, it is believed by astrologers to be a signal of rebirth and renewed energy.”

The moon will be at its brightest at 11.29pm.

The Pink Moon marks the first in a series of lunar events, followed by the Flower Moon in May and the Strawberry Moon in June.
