COVENTRY City Council’s Job Shop is gearing up to move to its new central location as part of the city centre south developments.

The Job Shop is set to open its doors to the public at its fresh address on Wednesday, March 27.

The relocation of the Job Shop comes as a result of the ongoing city centre south developments.

The new unit will be adjacent to the Iceland store inside West Orchards Shopping Centre.

Funding for this move has been secured through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) in collaboration with the West Midlands Combined Authority.

The current location in the Bull Yard will close on Friday, March 22.

Coun Dr Kindy Sandhu, cabinet member for education and skills at Coventry City Council, said: The wide range of support available and the excellent standards of coaching and practical advice has already made a huge difference to so many people’s lives.

“These services have helped our city’s residents find employment or training, progress their careers and improve their wellbeing.

“Everyone involved has done an amazing job, and I know that at the new site, they will continue to do so.”

The Job Shop has registered over 60,000 Coventry residents and supported nearly 15,000 people into employment.

The team has forged partnerships with over 200 businesses annually to facilitate recruitment efforts and foster local employment opportunities.

Coun Jim O’Boyle, cabinet member for jobs, regeneration, and climate change at Coventry City Council, added: “The Job Shop has provided brilliant services to thousands of local people over the last ten plus years supporting people into work and training.

“Being based in the city centre is really important – making it no more than a short bus journey away for people, wherever they live in the city.

“Having a job really changes lives for the better so the services the Job Shop provide are vital and valued and I am sure it will thrive in its new location.”
