A COVENTRY man who assaulted his partner after a night out in the city has been jailed for over two years.

Kaine Singh, 24, of Thomas Lane Street was sentenced to two years and five months at Warwick Crown Court after he pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

He will also be subject to a restraining order on his release from prison.

Singh pleaded not guilty to a domestic assault in Nuneaton on July 17, 2023, as well as stalking, and these charges were left to lie on file.

The court heard how Singh assaulted his partner on May 7, 2022.

The couple had an argument after leaving a club in Coventry, which culminated in him smashing her head off the dashboard of a car and punching her multiple times.

The offence came to light when Singh crashed his car in Nuneaton in July 2023.

After police attended, the victim, who was a passenger in the car, told them she had been a victim of domestic abuse.

Investigating officer Det Cons Matt Hall, a domestic abuse investigator at Warwickshire Police, said: “We will investigate all reports of domestic abuse and I am pleased with the sentence handed down to Singh.

“He is clearly a violent and dangerous man so I hope this sends a clear message that domestic violence will not be tolerated and we will do everything in our power to bring offenders to justice.

“The victim in this case has shown great bravery in speaking out and working with us to ensure Singh was convicted.

“I urge anyone who is a victim of domestic abuse not to suffer in silence but to contact police. We will always investigate and put support in place for you.”
