A CITY mental health charity has received a welcome cash boost thanks to the efforts of Sikh Union Coventry.
Members presented Sahara Coventry with £1,000, which the group raised through the organisation’s annual charity walk.
The charity operates out of the Methodist Central Hall, with funds raised helping them to improve the mental wellbeing of Asian elders and carers.
Sikh Union Coventry’s 36th annual event took place last month and saw 96 people walk 15km, starting and finishing at the Guru Nanak Prakash Gurdwara, and raising £1,850.
The remaining cash will support the Lord Mayor’s charities – Muscular Dystrophy Charity, the Coventry Resource Centre for the Blind and University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire Charity.
Some of the proceeds will also go to Sikh Union Local and several international projects.
Sikh Union Coventry’s spokesman Bali Panesar said he was delighted the club had raised the funds to supports Sahara Coventry’s vital work.
