Coventry Police and Sky Blues raise awareness about hate crime in schools

Coventry Editorial 22nd Oct, 2023   0

POLICE officers joined forces with Coventry City earlier this week to speak to youngsters about hate crime.

The police worked with the Sky Blues to deliver ‘No Room for Racism’ workshops at Clifford Bridge, St Osburg’s and Hill Farm Schools to educate youngsters on discrimination.

Two Coventry first-team players also stopped by to answer some of the youngster’s questions.

Students were then asked to design an anti-racism poster, with the winners to be given tickets to the Sky Blues championship clash with West Brom on October 30.

The visits were a part of National Hate Crime Awareness Week, which highlights the issue of racism experienced across the country.

Police will be visiting more schools next week.

PCSO Share Taylor, from the Partnerships team, said: “Our focus is to educate young people on the seriousness of racism and make it clear it is not tolerated.

“We will continue to work with the Sky Blues on and off the pitch to work against hate crime.”
