HILLFIELDS police’s new e-bikes have had an immediate impact as they helped them arrest a man on suspicion of breaching a court order.
The e-bikes were provided to the team through Coventry City Council’s 2023 crime budget and used for the first time on August 19, leading to the man’s arrest.
The bikes were handed out in response to concerns over drug dealing and criminal activity in the area.
They allow officers to chase suspects in areas where a police car won’t fit, with police able to patrol for longer and more efficiently.
Bikes will also have an edge when it comes to dealing with offenders using e-bikes to commit crimes in the city centre, allowing officers to access parts of the city otherwise more difficult to access.
