COVENTRY Rugby star Harry Seward has been forced to retire from the sport due to ongoing concussion complications.

The 26-year-old prop forward joined Coventry from Ealing Trailfinders in 2022 but has struggled with a long-term concussion.

He has been unable to get back to playing for the championship club and has decided his best option would be to retire and concentrate on recovering.

Seward said: “I’d like to thank everyone at Coventry for their support over the past year.

“I will miss playing with the team and wish them all the best in the remaining games of the season as well as wherever rugby takes them next.”

Although Seward only played 12 games for Coventry, head coach Alex Rae said he had become a popular member of the squad who would be missed.

“It’s really sad to see Harry have to leave us, he was identified as a player we brought in to be a big part of what we were building.

“We saw in some of his performances, the impact he had on the team.

“He’s a really good person and will always be welcome back here at Cov.”
