Coventry volunteers raised cash for Guide Dogs with annual coffee morning

A COVENTRY volunteer fundraising group has joined in a national coffee morning for Guide Dogs to raise cash for the charity.

Make Every Cuppa Count is an annual campaign raising funds to support people living with sight loss.

This year’s event was held at the Belgrade Theatre on April, 17 and the group raised a total of £378.

It costs around £55,000 to support a dog from birth to retirement.

Charles Bloch, a guide dog owner and the Make Every Cuppa Count event organiser, said: “We are so very grateful to everyone that came along to support our fundraising efforts for Guide Dogs.

“Every day 250 more people join the 2million already living with sight loss and this number is set to double by 2050.

“As sight loss increases, Guide Dogs expert staff, volunteers and life-changing dogs will be there to support them.”

It costs £27-an-hour of specialist training for a guide dog and £6 to support a working guide dog partnership for a day.
