A COVENTRY walking football club is gaining national attention after it was paid a visit by the Three Lions this week.
Coventry and District Walking Football Club has been playing the ever-growing sport at the Alan Higgs Centre for several years.
This week, Coventry and District welcomed England’s Over 70s Walking Football team to the Alan Higgs Centre.
Blackburn Rovers over 70s also attended, playing a match against the national team.
Coventry and District has recently successfully secured grants from the National Lottery Community Fund and Coventry City Council, which will allow it to build for the future.
Group membership has skyrocketed recently with the club approaching 100 players.
Walking football began around ten years ago to allow those aged over 50 to continue to enjoy the beautiful game at a slower pace.
