COVENTRY and Warwickshire Age UK has highlighted digital exclusion and urges for the protection accessing everyday services offline.
With the rapid increase in public services heading towards complete digitalisation, making it difficult for people without internet to find services.
Statistics show that 4.7million older people do not have skills to use the Internet successfully and are reliant on their local councils for services such as blue badges.
Michael Garrett, chief executive of Coventry and Warwickshire Age UK, said: “Our clients spend days trying to understand what to do, downloading forms and uploading images for applications.
“Clients should not have to rely on family members, friends, or charities in order to apply for their legal entitlements and many are deprived due to a lack of support or knowledge.”
Age UK Coventry and Warwickshire hold digital inclusion classes at the Gilbert Richards Centre in Earlsdon to support people with their devices.
