COVENTRY’S next batch of rugby stars will take on the best youngsters in the country after reaching the national finals of a college championship.
Coventry College’s rugby education squad have been crowned Midlands champions of the AoC Sport 7s Regional tournament at Walsall RFC after winning all three of their matches.
The squad, who earned wins against King Edward Stourbridge Sixth Form, Newcastle Under Lyme College and Solihull Sixth Form College, will now head to the national finals at Nottingham University in April.
The colleges head of rugby, Pete Glackin said: “This team has a brilliant sense of togetherness and put in some really pleasing performances in the Midlands leg of the competition, going on to become deserved winners playing a fantastic brand of rugby.
“We are well aware of the challenge ahead having represented the Midlands at the AoC Sport national championships many times over the years but are looking forward to the national finals in April.”
