A CITY Centre crackdown on e-bikes has got under way with several vehicles seized.
Police issued 11 Fixed Penalty Notices for breaching the newly amended Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) over the weekend, seizing two e-scooters and an e-bike.
Renewed and amended earlier this year, the PSPO allows officers to issue fixed-penalty notices and seize e-bikes in the city centre.
The power of the e-bike must not exceed 250 watts and the speed must not go over 15.5mph.
If the bike does not comply with these rules then it is classed as a motorcycle or moped and riders will need to be licenced, taxed and insured.
Police have stepped up patrols in and around the city centre and are working to educate people about the PSPO.
