EIGHT people have been arrested in Coventry city centre for various offences as part of Operation Calibre.
The eight were arrested on suspicion of offences including robbery, burglary, stealing vehicles and stealing from vehicles.
This week marks the start of Operation Calibre, which aims to reduce robbery across the city.
West Midlands Police has placed robbery and burglary at the top of its list of priorities.
The force will be carrying out regular patrols and disruption activities every day.
Temp. Chief Superintendent Ronan Tyrer, from Coventry LPA, said: “We’ll be seeing an increased police presence in Coventry over the coming weeks as we take action against those who would commit robbery and other violent offences.
“There is no place for this kind of offending in Coventry and we are committed to keeping people safe at all times.”
