Family of Coventry brain injury victim braving marathon as thank you to ambulance staff

THE LOVED ones of a Coventrian who suffered a traumatic brain injury after an incident last year will be running the Bath Half Marathon this weekend to raise money for the Air Ambulance charity that saved his life.

Jamie Glassborow had his life turned upside down after being hit by a car while on holiday with his girlfriend in Somerset on September 20, 2022, suffering a severe brain injury and a punctured lung.

He received CPR from a local bar worker before being airlifted to Bristols Southmead Hospital by the Air Ambulance, where he spent several weeks battling.

He was transferred to University Hospital Coventry and then the Royal Leamington Spa Rehabilitation Hospital and was discharged in January.

Jamie has continued his recovery and has been able to return to work eight hours a week.

He has also recently been able to return to the Coventry Building Society Arena to support his beloved Sky Blues.

A group of Jamie’s closest family and friends will be taking on the half marathon this weekend to thank Wiltshire Air Ambulance.

Among them will be Jamie’s sister, Samantha Glassborow.

She said: “It has been a rough year for us and Jamie still has a way to go but despite being in the hospital for months and not knowing what the long-term outcome would be, Jamie is gradually returning to normality.

“It’s safe to say a huge part of this is down to the quick response of Wiltshire Air Ambulance who arrived at the scene and transported Jamie to the hospital safely and promptly.

“We will be forever grateful to them and we want to run this half marathon to raise money for this amazing charity.”
