ITS a historic game for Coventry City this afternoon and a father and son, who live in different parts of the country, travelled especially to the CBS arena to watch the FA Cup semi final together.

Lifelong Sky Blues fan David Woolfool, who lives in Norfolk, and son Neale, who lives in Leicester, travelled to Coventry City’s home ground to spend the day watching the game at the Anecdote bar.

David lived in Coventry for over 30 years and wanted to watch his teams big day out with his son.

Neale said, as they weren’t able to go up to Wembley, travelling to their beloved sky blues home ground to watch the game was the ‘next best thing.’

Coventry are currently 2-0 down against Manchester United in the FA Cup Semi Final.

Excitement sank for sky blues supporters at the Anecdote when Scott McTominay tapped in the opener after 23 minutes at Wembley.

United had the majority of the possession and chances in the opening half an hour, with Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford also missing good opportunities to score.

Mark Robins side got a bit more of a foothold in the game in the final 15 minutes, with Diogo Dalot’s last-ditch clearance denying Ellis Simms a tap in after Josh Eccles’s brilliant jinking run and cross.

But on the stroke of half-time, a towering header from Harry Maguire put the Premier League side on the verge of the final.

Neale said Mark Robins side had to keep the match close and conservative and insisted they were ‘still in the match.’

“We have looked a bit scared but United haven’t been great and whilst we’re on the pitch we have a chance.

“Van Ewijk has been fantastic, we just need that spark.”

Father David, who remembers the sky blues famous FA Cup win in 1987, said while United could always make a mistake, two would be difficult.

“That goal just before half time made a big difference, Maguire was left alone he should’ve been picked up.

“United have played a very slow game, tried to draw Coventry out but that’s a respect to Coventry as they can hurt you on the break.”
