Foleshill community centre gets £40,000 cash boost towards vital repairs

FOLESHILL Community Centre has been given a £40,000 cash boost after gas network managers Cadent raised the funds for vital repairs to its building.

Nearly 2,500 Coventrians use the community centre every year but it has not been updated since the 1970s.

The sports hall is only accessible via a steep staircase, making it difficult for people with disabilities to use it, many of the windows are broken and boarded up and the changing rooms are not fit for purpose.

In total, £350,000 is needed to fully redevelop the facilities at the centre.

Cash will go towards urgent building repairs, further supporting its ability to serve the local community.

The community centre is currently home to one of Cadents ‘Centres for Warmth’ projects, which aims to keep people living in areas highly deprived areas safe and warm during the winter months.

It also works within communities that could be at risk of fuel poverty and carbon monoxide poisoning.

The CEO of Foleshill Community Centre, Helen Needham said:  “We are incredibly grateful to Cadent for its substantial contribution to our centre. This funding will enable us to create a more welcoming and inclusive environment for the people of Foleshill.

“It is partnerships like these that truly drive positive change and enhance the quality of life for our community.”
